Damage Assessment Yacht Surveys

A Damage Survey is a very focused inspection of damage or an emerging defect. This type of survey does not include areas of the Vessel that have not been subject to the specific damage.

The aim of the Damage Survey is to identify the full extent of the damage as well as the root cause of the damage. This is extremely important in order to establish the required measures that will ensure the avoidance of repeated damage(s). Furthermore, we give our technical recommendations and analyze the options for the repairs. In case we are requested, we can make a techno-economic analysis by preparing the repair specification and obtaining the repair offers. We can also attend, monitor and control the repair works as well.

All repairs and maintenance work should be supervised by a qualified Engineer who will ensure that the work is performed to the required/applicable standards and that all safety procedures are followed. Any issues or concerns should be documented and addressed promptly.

In case the survey will involve Hull & Machinery claim, the insurers or the insurance brokers should be informed immediately and preferably a joint survey to be carried out. All measures shall be taken to ensure all damaged parts/components (evidence) is preserved by all parties concerned in the investigation. The damaged area should be inspected carefully keeping in mind the need to leave the accident/incident scene as far as possible untouched. If this is not possible, then what has changed since the incident/accident must be recorded to ensure the investigator can piece together what has happened.
