Profession: Naval Architect and Marine Engineer (BEng, MSc).
Education: MSc in Marine Engineering Management (University of Greenwich – UK), BEng in Naval Architecture (Technological Educational Institute of Athens – Greece).

Multi role employee, evolving progressively in all major roles of the Company. Providing subject matter expertise in all areas of technical, safety and operations management
Main Responsibilities:
- Preparing and forwarding voyage instructions to the Vessels (in respect to their specific cargoes, ports of call, local regulatory compliance, safety and navigation issues) and monitoring the voyage proceeds as per the charter party requirements.
- Monitoring the daily Vessels’ performance by analysing the Vessels’ voyage abstracts.
- Implementing Company’s SMS procedures and requirements while executing the duties of the deputy DPA/CSO.
- Briefing and familiarising newly recruited Masters and Officers, monitoring stevedore damages & approve D/As.
- Providing technical assistance, guiding trouble shooting and arranging servicing and repairing teams when necessary.
- Organizing and following up all Technical, Class & Flag issues, incident & deficiency reports and P.S.C. log of deficiencies analysis and reporting.
- Developing and supervising the execution of a Ship specific, cost effective and fully comprehensive Planned Maintenance Scheme having a proactive, preventive, and predictive approach, that ensures the ongoing reliability of equipment and leads to maximize the machinery uptime, simultaneously reducing the number of mechanical and other failures to a minimum. Daily monitoring of same thereafter.
- Preparing the annual Vessel operating budgets and monitoring the development of actual vs the budgeted costs throughout the year.
- Scheduled survey attendances, I.S.M., I.S.P.S., M.L.C. internal audits and trouble shootings for various repairs, damage condition surveys etc., on-board company’s Vessels, to ensure that hull, machinery, and equipment are properly maintained fulfilling the highest market demands including all the relevant Flag, Classification, and international rules.
- Superficial Pre-Purchase Surveys & investment model analysis. Vessels’ Deliveries and Sales.
- Marine Insurance Hull & Machinery Claims Handling (in close cooperation with the Vessel’s Underwriters and Insurance Brokers). The last two years was also in charge for the P&I as well as cargo and defence claims handling.
- Attending at NYJ Shipyard & at GWS – China for the Sea Trials of two sister Ships 2.782 TEU C/Vs, and delivery thereafter – April 2017, November 2017 – January 2018 & September – November 2018.
- Attending at Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding co., Ltd – China for the final equipment/machinery tests, dock and repeated sea trials and delivery of an MPP Dry Cargo Vessel, in October – November 2005.
- Carried out twenty-four dry dockings of Dry Cargo and Container Vessels mainly for their 4th or 5th Special/Class renewal survey with extensive scope of works, at various locations such as Greece, Turkey, Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Brazil, and China.
Significant Projects:
- Complete overhauling and repairing of the heavily damaged KaMeWa controllable pitch propeller (CPP) system. (Propeller hub 157 S2/4, oil distribution box, hydraulic unit valves, electronic load control) on three Vessels at different shipyards.
- Lengthening of the propulsion shafting system/line with two different technical solutions & replacing the stern tube seals with a new type/maker on three Vessels.
- Removal & repairing of the heavily damaged hydraulic shaft coupling SKF OK 470 HB of an MPP and removal & re-aligning/repairing of the rudder system (carrier, stock, blade, lower pintle & stern frame) on a few Vessels.
MEDITERRANEAN MARITIME S.A. (September 1999 – January 2003)
Position Held: Superintendent Engineer
Main Responsibilities:
- Monitoring the daily performance of the Vessels’ machinery/equipment, providing technical assistance, guiding trouble shooting and arranging services when appropriate.
- Class and P.S.C. matters attendance/follow-up.
- Scheduled survey attendances/I.S.M. internal audits/many trouble shootings for various repairs etc., on-board company’s Vessels.
- Attendance/handling of the whole procedure of three major claims, of which the two were under L.O.F.
- Dry docking different size Bulk Carriers for Special/Class renewal survey with extensive scope of works, in Greece, Ukraine, Argentina & China.
Significant Projects:
- Reactivation project of M/V ‘MED LEGEND’. B/C of 40.153,70 m.t. dwt., that was laid up since 1994 when she caught fire in way of the engine room and accommodation:
Complete overhauling of the M/E B&W 7K67GF and her T/Cs B&W T680G (apart of her engine frame and the crankshaft, all the other parts found inside a flooded cargo hold and needed extensive repairs); Complete overhauling of the three D/Gs DAIHATSU 6PSHTc 26D; Very strict propeller and tail shaft survey; Realignment of the intermediate shaft with the M/E and her tail shaft as it was found to be much more out of the maximum permissible limits and the Vessel was reported with excessive vibration; Complete overhauling of all auxiliary machineries and valves/actuators all over the Vessel; Full re-tubing of the aux. oil fired boiler and repairs to the semi ellipsoid plate; Extensive steelwork to the hatch covers; Full reconstruction of her accommodation; Dock and sea trials to satisfaction of the attending MAN B&W Service Engineer and Class Surveyors.
- Extended repairs onboard M/V ‘MED UNITY’:
Complete overhauling of one D/G MAN 6GV 23,5/33 ATL and replacing of her engine frame, crankshaft and bedplate; Replacing of one generating set as above with one B&W HOLEBY 5T23LH-2; Repairing of many damaged auxiliary machinery and equipment.
N.G.P. BUREAU (February 1997 – September 1999)
Responsible for planning, co-ordination, and supervision of hull repair; Repair estimates and specifications; Evaluation of N.D.T. (Dye check, U.T.M. Operator).
