Damage Assessment Surveys & Hull and Machinery Claims Handling
The damage survey is usually ordered by the hull and machinery underwriters, as well as by the Vessel’s Owners. It is always conducted by a qualified Surveyor able to give the most accurate assessment of the extent of the damage a Vessel’s structure and/or her machinery and equipment suffered, the scope of repairs and the cost impact (projected cost of repairs).
With our expertise, proactiveness and hands on approach,
- We can provide continuous guidance to our principals throughout the process of Casualty Management, extending our services beyond the physical inspection, recording and reporting the damage.
- We can liaise with all stakeholders (Vessel’s Owners & Class, Insurers’ Brokers, and Repairers), to ensure the smooth cooperation and proper works execution.
- We can prepare a detailed repair specification based on the actual damage.
- We can proactively involve in the tendering and repairing process as well as can ensure an effective engagement in negotiations and settlement of the repair costs.
- We can prepare and submit the full documentation of the claim to the insurers.
- We can carry out a thorough and in-depth investigation into the damaged components (including their laboratory testing and analysis if required), as well as to the relevant safety management system records, to implement the “root cause analysis” for major machinery failures to establish the insurable peril and prevent re-occurrence.
- We can actively participate in the process of crew interviews, alone or jointly with appointed Solicitors during a major incident.
